On GiveNOLA Day, May 5, the Peace Center raised nearly $2,000 to continue our ministry in Gert Town.
Each year, the Greater New Orleans Foundation hosts GiveNOLA Day in early May. This philanthropic celebration brings the city and region together to raise money for various nonprofits. This year, more than 23,000 people joined together to support the participating nonprofit organizations.
The Peace Center will use the GiveNOLA funds to be a place of community for seniors and youth in Gert Town. Donations help the Peace Center provide lunch and field trips for seniors, snacks and after school tutoring for youth, and emergency financial assistance for our neighbors who struggle to pay their bills.
The Peace Center also provides computer education and usage, as well as employment assistance, to help our neighbors gain the skills needed to find and apply for jobs. Walk-in assistance and spiritual guidance is also offered to all who need it.
